Shout Out to SAMLEX Customer Service

Hi All,

With all the poor customer service stories, I wanted to give a shout out to Samlex America for their recent support.

I have a Samlex 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter. It is 22 months old. Recently it died. Called Samlex this afternoon. Samlex told me to just "destroy in place" the old one and they would ship me a new one. Then Samlex sent a follow-up email confirming everything.

.....I would sure buy one of their products again.

  • Well, that seals it for me. If I get a 2000W inverter, it will definitely be Samlex.

Based on your review.. SO WOULD I.

I sometimes tell the story of 3 phone calls.

1: Hughesnet: Call routed to, I think, Inida, 7hours on phone, one bottle aspirin, no joy (Finally got it fixed by using a back door trick)

2: Xantrex: About 15 minutes on phone, Had an RMA within 2, rest of the time was a combination of BS and information on how to improve the install so I did not need to do it again.. Good info as it turns out 8 years later.

3: Workhorse, Answered by a human call screener,, I told her my problem, and instead of transferring me to a customer service tech.. She gave me the answer, Call time under one minute, Happy customer.

(Two facts: It is the #1 reason for calling Customer Support (Workhorse) and 2: that was 2 or 3 company owners ago it's not that good today)
  • Thanks for the heads up. I have a Samlex SSW 1000 inverter that causes all kinds of noise on my audio equipment. Replaced it with a Xantex Prowatt SW. No problems with audio. Will call them about my problem today.
  • X3... four years ago I bought a Samlex solar controller in Yuma while snow birding. On my way home it quit working.....Samlex America's head office is in Canada near Vancouver BC, so I stopped there and told them my story and showed my receipt. This was a business office, not a store front, but the receptionist got one of the office sales people to come up front right away, and he said they would see if they had a controller there to replace mine. Within about 15 minutes I was on my way with new controller in hand, new serial # recorded on my receipt and dated & initialled. They apologized and said they had discovered some problems of static electricity affecting the model of controller I had, and that it had been rectified. The replacement has been in service for 4 years now with no problems !
