Shurflo Comfort Air fan blades hit

We have a Shurflo Comfort Air Platinum that was dealer installed in our 2008 fifth wheel.

The fan blades are hitting the lower shroud, not allowing the fan to spin. It seems as if the fan blades have sagged or the chassis that holds the motor assembly has sagged. The fan blade is not loose on the shaft. The motor assembly it not loose.

If i take the shroud off it spins freely, like it is supposed to.

I am just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem. I am leaning toward the fan blade, mainly because it will be easist to change.

Thanks, Ken

  • Pretty much the same as you had, Horsedoc.

I had emailed Shurflo, asking about this.

Said the motor chassis arms have probably collapsed, sagged, caused by extreme heat. "Like in Arizona". And that "Shurlfo is no longer in the Comfort Air business". No chassis's available.

I am in Southern Illinois, so I am guessing they have heard of this a few times.

So I took the fan blade off, ground the corner of the blades down enough to clear the interior panel. Works fine now. If it does it again, I will grind some more or replace it.

At least now I can scratch it off the to do list.
  • Warped shroud maybe? Factory defect? Could you heat it and press it back into the right conformation until it cools? Had the shroud on one of our Carriers pressing down too low and the fan was doing the same thing. Tech fixed it but I did not see how he did it. Said the shroud was too low.
