Shurflo does not shut off

Shurflo, Model No. 4005-101-A65, runs continuously when powered on. Just started doing this when I returned to camper today. Water pressure is normal with pump on. I thought tank was low so i filled it. No change. Please help with how to proceed.

  • If it isn't pumping water, and continues to run, I'd look to make sure it isn't sucking air from

    someplace.

  • so there should be a Allen key on the pump head to adjust the pressure shutoff.  you can try adjusting that and see if it helps, if not chances are the pressure shutoff has failed and you need a new pump.  this is assuming there are no leaks on the suction side of the pump.

  • Ours woud run over the course of the night off and on.  Replaced the pump and never had another issue.

  • I had this happen once. turned out there was a bunch of crud in the faucet aerator. To this day I stall can't figure out how a clogged aerator caused the pump to run continually but it did. All I know was when I removed the aerator and cleaned it out the pump started behaving normally and shut off when it was supposed to.

  • If the pump is pumping water it has to be going somewhere. First likely suspect is the water heater, second is a bad pressure switch on the pump, third is a leak (look for water somewhere where it shouldn’t be).
Turn on the pump and let it run for a minute (a full 60 seconds or more). Turn the pump off and go away. Come back 20 minutes later and turn a faucet on. If water comes out under pressure it’s probably a bad pressure switch. If not, you have a leak or the water is filling the water heater tank.
