Simple 110V-12V car battery charger?
I'm exhausted and depressed after reading reviews on Amazon.
"Multistage" chargers that have only 2 stages (sometimes 1). Bulk stage running at 16-17V 'cause some idiot imbedded a "desulfation" mode in there, and the said mode kicks in whenever the charger feels like. Float stage at 15V. Every 10th unit reads a good battery as "bad" and refuses to charge it. Every 5th or 6th unit goes up in smoke after several weeks, no matter what brand and price.
Is there anything properly made these days? With 10-12A max current, Bulk stage at 14-15, Float at 13-14 - and it has to be Float, not a dead zero with 7A "maintenance" pulses every few seconds. Preferably going into Rest, i.e. 0V, when Float current drops to zero. With onboard temperature compensation. Am I asking too much?
