Simple Electrical help, TT 50 amp to Home 15 amp

What most of us do is to buy the standard flat blade adapters for the other two standard RV plugs and use our rigs OEM cord. In your case you can get a 50 to 30 adapter for about $20 and you already have the 30 to 20 adapter. And you'll need the 50/30 adapter anyway for CGs with 30A only.

You may/may not be able to run your AC. A 12A AC might be OK while a 15A AC is less likely to be OK. Monitoring the voltage and checking the adapters for excessive heat can help determine if it's OK.

Be aware that the standard household plug is usually one of many 15A rated plugs on a 20A CB so there might be other draws and long wiring to consider. Considering you're in hot Fort Worth you might want to consider installing a 50A plug in the house.

I have a 25 ft 50A extension cord plus the rig cord that I use. Sometimes extension cords are far cheaper than installing a closer plug and can be used in other locations.

To answer the O/P's question, yes that is a 30 amp RV to 15 amp outlet connector

To answer the question you did not ask: Yes that is a 50 amp Marinco INLET (plug) that matches the outlet on your shore cord

So you need (Already answerd) a 50 amp RV to 30 amp adapter to use that puck adapter.

As to running one A/C on 20 amps.. Done it many times.. In fact on 15 amps odds are good you can run ONE of the following, JUST ONE

Microwave, Air Conditioner, Water heater, Converter if batteries are hungry

(So plug in for an hour or two to let the batteries charge then turn on one other thing)

On 20 amp you can add the fridge to that list.

One Television will likely work as well but multiple and/or computers may put you over.

It is a numbers game, if you know the numbers it works.

Your adapter goes between your power cord and home outlet.
Mine works real well.
Buy the way, your rig looks like 30amp not 50.

I agree but don't think that is a 50 amp connection. Once the Marinco gets adapted to RV male then adapt to 20 amp. I guess cord didn't come with TT.

What is wrong with running a 12 amp air conditioner on a 20 amp circuit breaker? I did it for years at the ranch that I lived at. I did have a voltage booster, but that was because I was located about 300' from the main electric meter, and all that distance caused a voltage drop.

Usually you need to carry a 50 to 30 amp adapter, in case you end up in a 30 amp RV park. Then you use the 30 to 15 amp adapter in addition to the 50 to 30 amp adapter to plug in at a house.

I would use the same 50 amp RV cord as normal to plug into the RV, with the twist lock end, then the 50 to 30 adapter on that cord, then the 30 to 15 adapter right at the receptacle.

If you are using a long #12 gauge extension cord, then care must be used if you run the A/C. You could not use the microwave and A/C at the same time, as each use about 12 amps. The battery charger will start out using as much as 4 amps, but will slow to about 1-2 amp range once the battery is full.

TV and other small items normally use less than 1 amp. Refrigerator can be around 3 amps. On a hot day, when you would want to run the A/C, the refrigerator will have more cooling capacity on gas, so I always change mine to gas anyway.

Yes you can use that 50A twist lock to 15A adapter and a good grade extension cord to reach house outlet. At minimum 12 gauge cord

Ah I didn't even think of using the OEM power cord into an adapter... OK good stuff! That is prob the route I will go cause that second one I linked is too rich for my blood. I like spending $15 better then $82
