slide out seal

When I bring in the slide outs, the wiper seal on the top of the slide folds in as it should. But when I bring out the slide, the wiper is still folded inside. Has anybody come up with a way to make the wiper fold out.

I had thought about laying down a small bead of dicor so when the slide goes out the bead will catch on the dicor and help it flip to the outside.

Ant thoughts on this??

  • The seals on both of our slides flip out when opened - top, bottom and sides. We wash and wash and wax all walls, top, bottom of the slide and use a conditioner on the rubber seals/wipers or whatever you want to call them.
  • You want a mess???? Never install Dicor where anything can contac it. That wipe seal will contac the Dicor and smear it everywhere. The wipe seal is not designed to flip out; The inner Bulb slide seal seals the room. If you want to make the wipe seal flip, just get the 2 inch wide grip tape that is used on ladders and steps to prevent slipping. Install it on the inner edge about 2 inches outside where the wipe seal would flip. If you have a rubber roof, then installing the grip tape will not work unless you can find a non rubber area to run the tape on. Doug
  • They wipe off moisture and debris but when I look behind them, I see part of my floor and wood from the face of the interior facing. Without them to protect those areas, water would get to those areas and cause rot.
  • Those blades are there to wipe off moisture and debris. They do not seal anything. The bulb part does.
  • I put 303 Protectorant on my seals and now they flip fine. I need to redo it every spring. Keeps seals soft and supple.
  • Talcum powder or slide out dry lube from wall art all over the sliding surface and seal. Slide may also need adjusting in the opening.
