Generally 10ga UV resistant wiring will be run from each panel to a combiner box on the roof. Sometimes Y connectors are used to combine 2 panels and then continue on to the combiner box.
At that point you have the combined amperage of all the panels in the combiner box and larger wires run down to the disconnect switch, fuse and the solar controller. These larger wires minimize the voltage drop to the controller. Also for parallel panels it's common to add fuses in the combiner box, but they are not on every setup.
