Solar Panel Purchase

My experience having just purchased 3 panels from Solar Blvd.

Prepaid with credit card in advance and hence no sales tax. Michael was easy to deal with on the phone. I was driving through LA anyway so Norco, CA was a minor detour and hence no shipping charges. Using Google Earth I could not determine which building was theirs so I pulled into the Post Office lot across the street. Then my MH and toad looped around the building and parked in the back by the loading dock. The staff helped me load the panels in the MH storage locker providing additional cardboard. I also used 2 tie down straps to keep the panels from shifting. Good experience and I have no association with this company.

Purchased Cynergy (their brand) 250W $200

They also have a 235W panel for $160 - very tempting.

  • Solar Blvd said no sales tax if I pre paid with credit card and sales tax would be added if I paid when I picked them up. Ditto for the 50' of UV resistant wire that I also bought. I agree go figure.

Oddly, I also didn't pay sales tax when bought panels via credit card from another CA supplier, Blue Pacific Solar. Picked up at their warehouse in North Sacramento. They were closer to I-5 than Solar Blvd, and had some panels that Solar Blvd didn't, different frame profile. Tested Voc and Isc with multimeter, and they helped me to load them in the truck. No sales tax in Ca, go figure :)

I envy you guys being able to do that. I'd sell my mono's in heart beat if I could walk in there and pick up a pair of the low priced poly's.
There is always the possibility of a road trip with lots to see along the way. :B
  • A pair of those to go with my Schottpoly....sigh

I just got a email that they have Amerisolar 230w Polys for $149.50 click
  • ISTR their 235w for $160 is a Hanwha, which is what I have in a 230w except I paid $260 for mine "up here." :( It works well.

Like you, I drove to their location to pick up my portable kit. Very friendly and helpful staff.
