I'm sure others know more than I do, and probably explain it better. But from what I have read going parallel will make your two panels less likely to have shading effect the total output of the array.
If you go serial it might be more subject to shading issues, it doubles the voltage and allows for less loss on the longer run of cabling.
This is subject to debate as well as PWM or MPPT controllers.
I kept things simple with parallel wiring and a PWM controller. But there are plenty of ways to do this.
