[SOLVED] - Monaco - trim at top of entry stairs

Looking for an online source for this threshold trim that is at the top of the stairwell at the entry door.

I have searched but not found it. I have not seen anything like it at building supply or hardware stores. Was at a Camping World and they did not have it. Last time I called Lazy Days part department, they never called me back, so hoping to not waste any more time calling RV dealerships.

RESOLUTION

Well, a bit of egg on my face! Information I got on another forum that Monaco did not have these in stock appears to be incorrect. I did not call them myself, but found out through the kind folks at Veurinks RV in Grand Rapids, MI. They said they had one in stock, but also check their online system with Monaco and both Oregon and Indiana had them in stock. I have mine on order. I was very impressed with the service I was provided by Veurinks - check them out! Or, Monaco said to have folks their parts department directly at 877-466-6226.

Here is the part number information. Maybe failure to communicate what was really needed was the reason someone was told Monaco no longer had them.

  • Try Alliance Coach in Wildwood FL. They used to be a Monaco exclusive repair facility and they still repair lots of Monacos.

Call Monaco in Oregon on Monday if you are looking for an exact match.

I'll do that as a last resort, but I typically find their prices 2-3 times other sources. Surely it is out there somewhere else. I'm patient.

For example, recently I needed to replace the entry door latch. Monaco wanted around $115 - got it from the handle manufacturer for $60.

Just replaced the fuel sending unit. Monaco wanted $276, I got it from the sending unit manufacturer for $85, including shipping.

Maybe. I had them install my W/D. When I got home I got a sales paper from CW. Same W/D on sale from CW and free install. However, CW sales price was more than I paid at Monaco and I paid Monaco for the install. Plus Monco also installed the drain pan and hose. JMHO
  • Uh Oh. I might be out of luck.

Found someone else looking for it at this thread. They found Monaco no longer has any in stock and the company they got it from does not make it anymore.

I have not found anything like it online. It is rather unique in design. This thread has some good pix of the cross section, showing how it fastens under the carpet on the vertical walls of the stairwell.

  • It is attached by a ½" flap that is tapped into a slot the full length of each strip. I found mine at the RV show in Q in 2010.
  • Ah, maybe I am getting closer. A thread on another forum said to get "stair nosing". I was searching for "thresholds" and "trim".

Also, I could not tell how this stuff is attached. There are no visible screws. Someone on that thread said the trim is held in place by screws that are hidden by the carpet.

In terms of an exact match - the pieces on the side do not really need to be replaced - just the one you walk on has split and is a trip hazard. I might have to replace it all to get a match if I can't find the exact stuff.
  • Best bet would be to find the vendor of that bullnose. It is not typical so the mfg. may have had it made to their spec. Is Monaco still being made? Is an identical replacement the only solution you're after?
