Brendan I wanted to give a shout out of thanks to an old thread. I was having issues with our Onan 5500 not holding under load, then a couple weeks ago it wouldn't restart.
I found your thread, ordered a new fuel filter, air filter and new pump. The pump turned out to be the problem. Once replaced it purred right along like it's supposed to.
One note at least on our setup was that I only ordered one fuel filter, but I probably should have ordered two while I was at it. There is one fuel filter right before the Carb and one right before the fuel pump on ours. I don't know if this is normal or not.
