SOLVED AC not charging storage battery Fleetwood Jamboree Rallye 01

Hello, I am new to the world of RV-living and have encountered a problem I am hoping you will be able to help me with.

Basically I am parked with the AC line plugged in and everything seems to work fine but after a few hours I get a beeping noise which seems to be an indicator of a low battery. I run the engine and then the generator for 15mins each and it's good to go for another 5-6 hours.

I don't use much electricity and the only thing constantly drawing power is the refrigerator. I was under the impression that while hooked up to AC everything should be able to run off that and the storage batteries should be charged by it.

I actually changed the storage batteries twice already due to another beep which was the gas detector I believe so the batteries are brand new (this is what the RV mechanics said would solve my current issues but sadly it did not). I can't afford to take it back to them for now so I am turning to you. I hope you can help me solve this problem and I thank you all in advance.

  • You said that running the generator charges it ? If the genset charges it, then the ac electric shore power should be charging it also.
If not, then the automatic transfer switch (ATS) that is suppose to switch the ac source from generator, to shore power has failed in the generator position
  • Another thought is the battery disconnect. Cycle it to store then back to on.
  • Sounds like the converter is not working properly.
Check to insure that the converter is connected to 120 volts AC.
    Check output of the converter.
Check 12 volt DC panel for blown fuse from converter output.
Late model converters have reverse polarity fuses. they maybe blown
