Sourcing Discrete 12 Volt Motion Detector Module ?

"Discrete" means just the motion sensor eye which will in turn fire off a relay or a bright LED panel. Anyone come across something that was priced reasonably?

"Reasonable" kind of leaves things open for interpretation...

Just happen to find an interesting to say the least 12V 10W LED flood light WITH motion detector for $24..

    HERE

That looks real nice. I wonder how well it works.

    That is a great question.

You can also buy just the same "brand" light without the detector and reviews seemed OK. Been looking for a 12V "flood" light to add to my tractor for winter usage since the plow "hides" a lot of the headlights :S (not wanting to use uber high wattage since tractor alternators and not the most robust in the world). One would think that manufacturers would figure that out but NO.. :h

    maybe this one ?

SEN-08630 RoHS Compliant. This is a simple to use motion sensor. Power it up and wait 1-2 seconds for the sensor to get a snapshot of the still room. If anything moves after that period, the alarm pin will go low.

This unit works great from 5 to 12V (specsheet shows 12V). You can also install a jumper wire past the 5V regulator on board to make this unit work at 3.3V. Sensor uses 1.6mA @ 3.3V.

    Looks like a winner...

    :)
  • If you are plugging it into a RV 12V system, they are seldom 12V, except when your battery is almost dead. Make sure what ever you buy has some latitude. I have a motion sensor solar panel supplied by Harbor Freight covering our trailer which is adjustable for sensitivity and time on.

    MEX,

Check out this link for the X10 Home Automation modules and controllers.

I have been using these for years and they are not all that expensive...

    X10 MODULES

These are based on 120VAC use but works fine with INVERTER setups.

The X10 motion sensors are battery operated... I have one on each side of my OFF-ROAD TRAILER and they will turn on anything I have plugged into the 120AC controller. I have my awning lights on one channel.

I also use a personal key fob that activates any of the sensors...

Can walk away from the trailer to go to the bath room and can trip the awning light over a 100-feet away with the KEY FOB.

I have full control from my bedside night table to turn on/off my night lights inside the trailer and awning lights all from the KEY FOB laying on the night table.
