Spendide Dryer not turning

We have a Splendide Ariston model tvm63x. It's been fine for four years. Last night we put a pair of shoes with rubber soles and a pair of slippers in to dry. After about 40 minutes we checked on the load and discovered that the drum had stopped turning. The inside was warm, just not turning. After a bit of research, it seems likely that we broke the drum belt.

Anyone have a similar experience? And, assuming this is the cause, how big a job is it to replace? I'm moderately handy; the youtube videos on similar, not identical, units make it seem doable, just lots of little steps.
