Use the method edatlanta posted. You can also use a water hose to back wash that rubber boot to force the lint ball back into the drum, then do the cycle again. I used to add a cup of vinegar to the drum before starting the cycle. The procedure will add a lot of water to the drum, then slosh it around. The idea is to break up that lint ball in the rubber boot. Once I figured out what was supposed to happen I was able to keep mine lint free without having to pull the unit out of the closet to clean that rubber boot.
