Sprinter radio and Navigation

I have a Class C, 2011 Fleetwood Jamboree. I recently replaced the dashboard Magnadyne M3 radio (without navigation) with a Magnadyne M4 (with navigation) and have had a specific wierd problem. After about 20 minutes of normal operation, the M4 (with no command from me) switches to what I'll call the "Rear View" mode even though I'm not in reverse. When this happens I have no control of the radio and cannot get out of this mode. After turning everything off for a few hours things return to normal. However, after driving for about 20 minutes the sam problem comes back. I's appreciate whatever advice I can get.
  • Disconnect the Rearview Camera TRIGGER wire (Green wire). This is the wire connected to the back up (Reverse) switch wire. Then test. IF it continues the problem, you have a defective Radio. IF the problem goes away, then something must be making that Trigger wire HOT(12 volts). When this happens, can you pull over and see if the Reverse lights are ON? Doug
  • Put a Magnadyne M1 radio back in. It's really futile to screw around with switching things around on german cars, period, from stock setups.
  • By "Rear View" mode I mean that the rear view camera comes on and all other controls on the radio/navigation system become unuseable. I hit the reset to no avail.
  • I read,

Left and right camera inputs activated with turn signal switch
Rear camera and audio inputs controlled by reverse gear
    Front camera has manual control

If the unit isn't getting a signal from the reverse gear switch and it takes some time to get it to reset to other inputs I would think it has a problem.

I would disconnect the camera control wires and see what it does.

If this issue is linked to on time, I would suspect software, whether a configuration setting or a software bug.

    Good luck,
  • 1. Rearview mode. What do you mean??????? Does the rear view Camera come ON? Have you tried a system reset? Doug
