You can ground the chassis to the earth's core with railroad iron and t ain't gonna help static electricity. Look at the principal of a Leyden Jar. Or better yet stand on a fiberglass ladder wearing rubber boots and grab a spark plug wire.
Go to the hardware/auto parts store. Grab a can of aerosol SILICONE SPRAY LUBRICANT. Take off your shoes. Spray the sole and the heel. Then wipe off the excess lube so it won't stain the carpet. Wipe it good. It doesn't take much lube to work.
