Storage of water filter
My water filter won't be used for several months. What suggestions do you have for storage?

Put it in a ziploc bag, put that in a zip loc bag, then give the doubble bagged filter to the HAZ-Mat disposal
Put in a new filter/cartridge when you return to use.
NOTE: any time you store for any long period of time (month or more) this is the ONLY approved procedure for "Storage".. Dispose as Haz-Mat and replace.
This applies to all brands and types.
Haz-Mat disposal around here is Very very expensive! The minute you declare it a HM you just moved into a disposal issue that requires documentation, certified personnel,certified containment and control.
Water filters are Not a Haz-Mat, most are either fibrous materials as in a pre filter and then some type of treated or non treated charcoal material!
Just bag it and chuck it in the trash! Or if you are concerned with the outer material (plastic) dispose as Recycle.
Maybe if your in Flint Michigan it will be a Haz-Mat, but for plain old potable water there should Not be anything Haz-Mat about it!
