"Stuck" in Ohio - Workhorse W22 stalls going into gear

Short summary: Our MH is on a Workhorse W22 chassis. It stalls going into gear but engine idles and runs fine. After some time it will stay in D without stalling. Looking to get to a repair shop on...

Did it feel like a manual when you dump the clutch? Lurches forwards for a split second and then dies?

Or does it just die?
