I need to set up a “test” bench to work on a Sururban SF 35 furnace in my car port. The list below is what I think I need… Please let me know if I’m missing anything off my list. Pull heater and propane regulator and propane tank and have on hand, fully charged battery, fused at 7.5 amp’s, volt meter and hand tools. If needed, I have my old homemade man-o-meter if needed. And of course manuals. Please let me know if I’m missing anything. Thanks

Obviously 12VDC and propane. In addition you need a switch to turn it on.

Will you need an air compressor to blow it out? Wire terminals? Crimp plier? Do you want it to cycle on a thermostat?

Not sure what you're checking, but to be sure the whole system works, you may need a thermostat.

All you need is a propane hookup and 12v, nothing more. Use the thermostat wires to turn it on and off with a simple twist of the wires.It'll take a few minutes for the furnace to kick on so don't get in a hurry. For safety a fire extinguisher handy and keep an eye on the exhaust heat.

Don't forget a jumper for the sail switch. limit switch to control board.

Not bad at all. If all the electrical check out then it might be a plug jet. You'll have to get access to it which more then likely mean the gasket will fall apart on you.

Once you've done it a few times it only takes about 10-15 minutes to go through the furnace on a bench. Just remember you're dealing with something that's hot and needs to be in a well vented area.

technically it's called a "thermal overload" it is a bimetal disk that opens a circuit when temperature is above its set point. It is usually silver and about the size of a quarter with two wires coming out of it, should be in the discharge air stream, if its the high limit.
