suburban sf 42 furnace noise

Hi All
I have a problem with my heater it works, but it is making a high pitched noise when the burner is lit. Does any buddy know what might be causing this? I have inserted a link to youtube of the heater making the noise.

Thanks

  • You got a new burner for an SF 25 (which you now state is your furnace) correct?
    Suburban part number 010762.

If YES...then leave it as is.

IF NO..return and get correct part number.
  • According to Suburban, the washer in the burner is SUPPOSED to be there on all models back to 1999. Only SF20 and SF 25 models have that washer. So, install that burner. Doug
  • I'm not much on trouble shooting FA units but I have found that valves can make howling noise. I installed a zero clearance fireplace in a home I was adding on to and it howled when I lit the gas log. Changed the flex line and no change. Changed the $25 shut off valve and noise stopped. Just saying.
  • Thanks everybody! I'm going to put everything back together this week. I will post the results.
  • Ok that did the trick the finance now runs\burns quite. However when I first installed the unit and tested it, the heater would fire up like normal but then just shut off. Not going through its normal cycles and I noticed that it was getting really hot, so I checked the only thermo switch I had access to on the back of the heat exchanger. It seems to be operating fine allowing current though. It was blowing air around the heat exchanger and exhausting gas out the side at a good rate. I got feed up and I put everything back together and gave up for the night. Went out this morning and tried the heater just for fun and it worked perfectly. Go figure!
