Suburban stove - Burner disconnected all by itself

So I went to start my stove the night before leaving for my present camping trip, so that I could get gas to the fridgetop pre-cool it. Lit the front and left rear without much issue (after the line was purged of air) but the right rear would not light. Not only that but it was very loose. Got the fridge started anyway and decided to look into the stove in the light of day. Next day I took off the stove top cover and saw this:

Not only was the RR burner disconnected but all the others were loose (but connected) as well.

Each burner is fastened to the stove by one sheet metal bracket and a sheet metal screw, while the bracket is fastened to the underside of the burner by a smaller screw. In all cases the second screw was loose. I unscrewed all brackets from the stove, pulled all burners out, tightened the underside screws, slightly bent the brackets so they would tend to push the supply piping onto the connection at the stove front panel, and reinstalled the burners. Now the are all tight and in place. Tested all the burners and they are working better than new.

I am not impressed that this stove which was only lightly used before in this 6 month old RV would have this problem. I my previous RV which I owned for 3 years and drove thousands of miles and in which we cooked hundreds of meals on the Atwood stove, never did we have any issue with the stove. Not only did the burner decide to disconnect itself but the oven shuts of as soon as it hits set temperature. I will be talking it to the dealer for that problem. This is simply a case of shoddy workmanship, and I am a bit disappointed with Suburban at this point.

  • Rolling, bouncing, jousting down the road will loosen all kinds of stuff in an RV..The longer I own an RV the more I have learned that LOTS of regular maintenance and constant inspection is key.

As for the oven...isn't it suppose to shut down (except for the pilot) when it reaches your set temp? Then it fires up as needed to maintain that temp.

But, your post does remind me to go check our range burners.
    Thanks.
