You are correct RedRollingRoadblock. I do that (refer to the 1st post) regularly. But I have no empathy whatsoever for OPs that do not interface with subsequent comments. Sometimes people come here for advise when what their really looking for is justification for a decision already made. You probably won't like half the answers. Own it. Post "Opinions on this thing I just bought".

I also don't care for an OP who wants only "an answer to their question".What I prefer is an OP who wants "information related to their question". Buried in information could be and usually is not only an answer to their question, but also a whole bunch of learning so the OP may never have to confront the same situation or question again.But beyond that, an OP who finally offfers thanks to all for the information is becoming rarer and rarer. Some discussion responses take a lot of time to write up ... so sometimes some appreciation would be appreciated.

I think the definition of trolling/troll fits Mexicowanderer to a T. About every other post pokes fun at asians and their "chingrish" and the "dragon" source etc, etc. Is this not the definition of a troll what is? Mex hides out in Mexico and lobs insults at other cultures and generates a few followers while he sits snobbishly in his little hideout. I've complained to the moderator numerous times but it continues. Heck Mex even has our moderator using the term "chingrish". So folks this is where trolling begins and is pervasive.

Responders could better stay on topic and not start a bunch of technical banter until the OP responds also. I believe some are still intimidated by a chatroom. I try not to post more than the OP until the situation has a primary resolution.

Trolling: "the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument."

I totally disagree about the forum not being helpful. Perhaps in the particular threads you read it may be that way. But all the ones I frequent the advice is usually spot-on. Some posters do get spanked but it's usually because they ask for it and many posters on here do not suffer fools gladly.

It's like logging onto the Mopar forum and saying: "My car runs badly, what's wrong with it". See what kind of really nasty responses you'll get with that opening post. Many forums are not anywhere as nice as this one.

I have to say, this forum is one of the least helpful help forums I have ever seen, and I have frequented a lot of hobbiest forums over the years, and still do.

Too many people in this forum want to make snotty comments implying how stupid the OP is.

More than half of your own topics are abandoned with unanswered questions of other people. I don't ask "why" you are doing this, because there are probably reasons not up for open discussion.

Back on the track.

"Ask the best you know how"? What if he/she can't, at any intelligent level? Vast majority of the members are illiterate in anything technical, from basic electricity to mechanics laws, and are barely educated at the "honest" grade 12 level. Couple this with good 'ol American "not your f-king problem" attitude when asked for clarifications or reasons for the OP question, and you got the picture. Shouldn't come as a surprise.
