suggestions for screen door with dog

so the doggie stuck his head thru the screen door- I know they make several other types designed to be stronger for pets- Is there a material I can purchase from hardware store- cut to size and screw in that will do the same thing? Looking for suggestions- Dog is 80lbs so would need to be strong

  • If the pup won't be trained and obey commands from it's master to leave the door alone, electric fencer connected to an insulated grid screen. Adjust it to unpleasant tickle.
  • Dog training and obedience. No other method will work for long.
  • The screen door pops open easily, so with the plexiglass over the bottom half of the door (so you can still see out of it) also put a sliding bolt inside just below the opening where you get at the main door handle.

From outside you can reach in and undo the sliding bolt. But be careful not to close the main door while that bolt is across or now you can't get in! ( You can but you have to overcome the way the door and screen door hold together)
  • Lowes and Home Depot sell pet resistant screening, it's pretty stout stuff. You cold also try a plexiglass sheet and small self tapping screws on the bottom of the screen door. The Plexiglass can probably be the the thinnest and cheapest they sell at the same home improvement stores above.
  • I’ll go out on a limb and say that there isn’t a RV screen door that is made that will withstand even a half hearted attempt by an 80lb dog to go through it.
If you’re concerned about the dog getting out, the storm door will need to be closed.
If you’re worried about the door, reinforcing the screen area will just destroy the door of the dog pushes on it.
And if it’s a Husky, you’re quite likely concerned about the first thing.
