Surburban SW6DE Hot WT issue, fix, and I have a question

I tried firing up my Surburban SW6DE hot water tank today on gas, the ignitor was clicking but no flame. After a dozen on - off turning the switch on - off cycles I gave up and came in to search the web, web posts said likely bad gas valve Went back out, still no joy.

I decided to look inside the interior compartment where the HWT tank is mounted, and found this loose green wire, I shoved it back in the plastic connector, turn the tank on and it fired on the first try, big joy!

QUESTION - what are those round plastic connectors, are they just fancy butt connectors?
cheers - ken

    Yes, fancy butt connectors

We used something like that at the phone company. They do the same function as a ScotchLock connector, the kind that pinch through the wire's insulation to make contact. Difference is, they contain a "gel" or "grease" perhaps Vaseline, to seal moisture out of the connections. This should prevent them from failing due to corrosion.
