It probably sucked up a small piece of debris which is now stuck in the diaphragm (there's only one diaphragm assembly). When it does this it leaks pressure internally so it never builds enough pressure to shut down.
Take the head apart and rinse the components off with water. Then reassemble and test - I'm betting all will be fine. (This has happened to me a couple of times.)
