Surge Guard

My surge guard has started to act funny......when it is plugged into the 30 amp outlet it checks fine.....but when I plug the camper cable into it it counts down and tells me that it has reverse polarity but I know that is not right because a polarity checker plugged into the receptacle says it is polarity correct plus all the outlets in the camper check correct......So something is going on with it and for 300 bucks it should not go bad....

  • If it is a "Surge Guard by TRC" over 1 year old they will gladly offer to sell you a new one. Try taking it apart, if that does not work get a Progressive Industries. :)

I assume it's a portable Surge Guard unit
My guess the seals have leaked letting moisture inside
Seen a few with a cup or more of water in them
Hardest part of the repair is getting them apart and then properly sealed back up afterwards.

Might be worth your effort to take it apart and dry it out

That was my first thought. It rained a couple of days on our trip but then it was dry for 4 days after that...

  • Agree...if it is from Progressive Industries call them. They will guide you and maybe replace it. They just replaced ours.
  • IS it a surge guard made by 'Surge Guard' or one made by 'Progressive Industries'?

SG......1 year warranty and no serviceable parts

    PI......Lifetime warranty

Have you tried plugging into a different power source to check function of surge guard & your power cable?

Maybe you have loose connections in your power cable plug or in main panel???
  • I would call them and tell them what is happening. They might just replace it free.
