Actually the Wyze cameras work on 5V dc. USB powered, so a 12 volt plug in USB adapter works great. That is what I use in my 5er. They record 24/7 to micro SD, whether connected to internet or not. I have a half a dozen of them in use at home, one in the 5er, and a spare.
I am glad to see someone else thinks like I do. I am not paranoid, but I just like playing with new tech. There is nothing wrong with that, and the OP did a great job and has a cool new toy. Good job!
