There are all sorts of cameras, and options. If motion is detected it will chime your phone/light it up momentarily and say motion detected. I can look at my cameras anytime while away, to see live view, or recorded history of any activity.

Ring cameras have security options, to keep from being hacked, just like your bank account on your puter. You have to use a password to keep secure.
