This is what is balanced and best for twin twelve volt batteries.



As it often doesn't cost a dime more to do this, I think it is worth the trouble.

Others may say it doesn't matter--but unless there is a compelling reason to not optimize charging and discharging why not do it the best possible way?

Make the jump and install a second battery. If you need a new one I would go with 6 Volt batteries. Had 6 volt in motor homes but trailers always come with 12V.

I have added a second battery in every trailer we have owned. Needed if you run the furnace for a weekend when dry camping.

I have this set up in our fifth wheel - it is a battery box designed for 6 volt batteries. Put some styrofoam pieces in it to prevent movement of the batteries. Just in case - - - 12 Volt are connected in parallel and 6 volt will be connected in series.

Amp hrs are the same 6v or 12v, if we talk group 27 12v, verses the std golf car 6v. Either will work fine. If it were me, I'd go w/ the 6'ers, but don't really know why (please don't tell me why I should or shouldn't) I used 6'ers for 9 yrs, now I'm using 12'ers, and w/o getting all tech'y there ain't no difference, no matter what !!.
But I do like the series connection on the 6'ers a little better

FYI, the 6v batteries are the same size as group 24 12v, except they are at least 1.5 inches taller

Whatever fits and whatever you can lift. I wouldn't go over 62-63 lb.

Thought you could get more AH's from 2-6V vs 1-12V.

OP is thinking about installing 2nd 12V
