The new WFCO's any good ?

Can 13.6v convert all the sulfate back into solution, given days, weeks etc? Do ya have that much time? What about a good stir on occasion?

Is holding 14.4v or more all the way to FULLY charged important? is 4hr enough?

Take a 100 ah batt at 50%, what is the difference in acceptance at 14.4v vs 13.6v, 50%? see question one, is 13.6 enough to FULLY recharge.

I was trying to imagine why any company would put a WFCO 75 amper in a trailer without telling the buyer it needed say four or more batteries to make that WFCO 75 amper worthwhile.

If on shore power, and no batteries, and running on converter, could it have enough 12v stuff to need a 75 amper?

But even my previous diy WfCo install, of a WfCo in another RV got to 14.+ volts

There is a problem with some RV Mfg installations
They but the converter far enough distance with smaller gauge wire that the voltage drop creates too low an initial charge current that it does not trip the boost mode

I have a Honda "3000w" which is quite clear in its specs that it is good for 2800VA, and does 23.3 amps at 120v.

Which = 2796. OK they lied about that 2800. It is only 2796! Too bad so sad. In real life it does more than that (3000+ ) , so no complaints.

Generators are often sold quoting their surge wattage. For example the Honda 2000 watt unit can only sustain 1600 watts.

Similarly the 1000 really only does 800 watts.

VA are not watts, but advertising copy writers want the biggest number they can use.

Push the button on the front
Hold for about 10 seconds, maybe less this puts it in boost
Never had any trouble with the one I installed

I made a fatal error and damaged it but that was not the WfCo fault
I ran a portable electric heater on the inverter outlet while plugged in and charging with the WfCo, with both devices in the same enclosed compartment
The inverter survived, the WfCo converter did not

That's what the problem was for sure. A 75 on a 170AH bank is a
44% charging rate, which is huge.

With the 170 AH bank at 12.0v (about 35-40% SOC) as soon as the 75 amps is applied there will be a big spike in battery voltage (as seen at the WFCO) to over 13.2v, so the WFCO will stay at 13.6

A 35 on 170 is a 20% charging rate which is still a goodly rate, but if the bank is at 12v, it just might keep that spike under 13.2 so the WFCO would kick in at 14.4

That is with short fat wires converter-battery of course. If long thin wires you get more R and that spike gets higher as seen at the WFCO, so above 13.2, and no 14.4.
