Thanks guys, these are all super helpful responses. I wasn't positive if it was ok to treat the series 6's as a 12 so I chose to err on the side of caution with that. I am not unhappy with my independent charger choice, but now I will also feel a lot more "at ease" having the new batteries hooked up to new converter.
I have no intention of letting the old converter get near them.
Apparently I also need a new DC fuse block, according to the information I am reading about this old converter.
