toilet-- what to expect with new flooring install?

I will be installing some sort of plank flooring in the bathroom of an early 80s Fleetwood travel trailer that is permenantly parked in a campground. The toilet is original to the trailer. It is all plastic with a couple finger pull levers on the right side of the toilet. The new flooring might raise the hight of the floor as much as about 3/8".

I am wondering what all I will need to reinstall the toilet after the flooring is installed?

Will I need a new seal that is thicker? Is such a thing available?

Is there a "closet flange" or RV equivelant under the toilet?

Just looking for info before I pull the toilet so that I have whatever I will need to reinstall the toilet on hand.

Thanks for any help-- Mick

I think you're going to have to take the toilet off and look. Unless you can access the tank from somewhere else in the RV and look from there.
  • I have a 2010 model and you can tell that it is glued by all the excess glue that ran down the inside of the pipe.
  • Thank you very much Doug.

    Thanks again-- Mick
  • There is no thicker seal. You do not use the same wax seal as in a House. The seals are rubber. Usually there may be up to 1/2 inch extra down pipe. If NOT, then you will build a new down pipe with a new flange. Early 80's the down pipe may be glued to the entry on top the holding tank. Hopefully not, it will either be threaded or have a rubber slip gasket on top the tank and the flange/down pipe will just pull out. If threaded and after 30 years, you may have a devil of a time unscrewing that 3 inch down pipe. Doug
