Toilet Seal does not hold water

All of a sudden my Fifthwheel toilet does not hold water, it just goes down the tube so there is no seal. I tried cleaning with toilet brush without results. Anyone know of a Youtube of how to clean that gasket? Where on gasket is the groove. My toilet has a sliding thing that should stop water from leaking down into tank so there is a water seal.
  • Use a toilet brush, open the valve with your foot peddle, and brush DOWN the hole and around the area where the slide seal moves. Chances are, you've got some hardened "stuff" caught in the grove, not allowing a seal. Simple solution, keep brushing with the toilet brush until it softens of breaks looses. Let lots of water run when doing so.

Since you did not state the brand or model I will assume Thetford.
The replacement blade seal is about $5.00 and takes an hour to replace DIY.
  • With no water in it I just pour a little olive oil in and work the flaper valve a few times. It always works for our Thetford and seems to lube and soften the seal.
