Point is, you can't "test" the trailer brakes from a parked position. Until you get the rig moving, all you're going to get from manual application is the buzzing sound you report hearing. However fancy all Ford's promotional language sounds, its controller is still inertia-based, meaning brake function depends on trailer movement.

Thanks very much. I didn't know that. I assumed it would lockup at idle because it holds the truck on a "pull test" on our 5th wheel.
