Question: $660 to change spark plugs. WOW what do they have to do, remove the motor?

I'm not the most mechanically inclined guy so I can't say for sure about a lot of this stuff.
I got nothing on the battery service: we had a new one put in a few months ago. Um, what could it need?
I think I read somewhere that there's a special tool for taking out the plugs. Whether that's a proprietary Ford tool or something specific for the V10 (didn't the early version have some problem with the plugs breaking?), I don't know, but maybe the average shade tree mechanic doesn't have one in his tool box.
