MANDATORY DESIGN CHANGES FOR SOLAR ROOF INSTALLATIONS

Allowing direct charging of any and all home installed batteries. Something that is forbidden by utilities for intertie.

AND (this will kill California Democrats)...

EXEMPT such battery and equipment purchased from state sales tax

  • Pretty sure a battery is allowed. Just can't feed the grid with a battery to arbitrage the net metering TOU rates. Battery can be used to minimize draw during on-peak pricing periods and certainly can be used during an outage.

    One more reason to have local solar instead of long transmission lines.

    BTW if the service station has no electricity that gasoline car does not get filled either.
  • The situation is improving a little bit. Both SMA and Solar Edge now have grid tie inverters with a 120 volt output that will supply up to 2kW (SMA) or 1.5kW (Solar Edge) when the sun is shining and the grid is down. This power can be used for battery charging or anything else. As far as electric cars go, I wish the promoters would provide honest total impact emissions data. As soon as I read "zero emissions" I know it's dishonest and quit reading.

    A first volley of even more Black Swan unintended affects...Looks like a reaction to wild fire suits...Should boost home genny sales exponentially, as rooftop full of solar is rendered impotent...Just another sad component to California going third world...
