Uneven voltages on 50 Amp

When I put my converter breaker on, the voltages on each side of my feed go to 148 and 84. Took my ceiling fan plum out because it had low voltage, disconnected the feed tested 120 and fed the fan with 120 from the garage it ran ok. Have 240 from garage and everywhere in between. Have spent days chasing this. Could I have a ground problem. Comments appreciated.
  • It would be beneficial to post style of rig, make and model. At least put it in your signature.
    Problem could be in pedestal.
You need to start by checking the pedestal or where you are plugged in. Verify that the two parallel blades have 240 volts between them.
If you have a genset with automatic transfer switch the neutral contact could be an issue.
Turn off breakers in the rig and verify power coming into rig after checking pedestal.
Are you using any type of adapter?
Are you plugged into a fifty amp shore power receptacle?
  • No, a bad neutral connection. Get into your breaker panel and tighten all connections, especially the neutrals. :) Do it now before it gets worst and you blow something.
