I've had some very high quality true RMS AC/DC clamp on hall device current probes along with a couple of import inexpensive ones.
For most of my RV/auto use, the cheap ones with a hall sensor for DC current do just fine. Typically won't zero completely, may read 0.1A or so, and are not well shielded with a good mu metal shield so they have some error due to rotation wrt earths magnetic field. And most have a decent RMS converter for AC current measurement.
Haven't used the mastertech, but probably a "generic" meter made in taiwan.
If you need a decent qualitative tool, should work just fine. If you need very low current measurements and/or an excellent tool for quatitative measurements, well then your into fluke territory.
