I agree w/ your wristwatch note - there are usually some ferrous metals in most watches, but if the gold, silver, platinum, or stones in your rings are a problem, you may want to find yourself a new jeweller.

gold silver platinum, don't react to magnetic fields - portscannerExplorer

ANyone experience any Radio Frequency Interference problems using these..
I switched to LED when they first came out only to find out the regulated type LEDs cause interference to my HDTV signals, WX Radio setup, and my ham radio setup.
This being a large magnet setup might have some of the same type of Home Entertainment interference to deal with...
Bet one must use caution of getting your wristwatch close to it or maybe rings on your fingers etc...

Roy Ken - ShearwaterExplorermagentawave - I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that he contributes to the DIY section of the class B forum but I don't know his username.
- magentawaveExplorerAny idea how many watts of solar panels he had on his Sprinter?

Would it be crazy to use a Nuwave as the only stove in a motorhome with 500 watts of solar, a couple batteries, and NO SHORE POWER?
I have no direct experience with this type of cooking but I did encounter a class B RV'er who had bought a used Sprinter and did his own van conversion. He had 4 deep cycle batteries and solar panels but no generator. His cooking was done with an induction hot plate and he was quite satisfied with it. Induction cooking is more efficient than standard cooktops because only the pan is heated. - ShearwaterExplorer

I have some nice pans and would hate to have to get all new ones. (I don't have a magnet in the house and at 20 below today I'm not going to run to the shop to get one. lol )
Oops never mind, a quick google search says no they will not work. Too bad. Fredzo wrote:

What about pace makers?Does the bottom not have to be all flat?
Wifey has a Pacemaker, and they say NO to induction cooktops.
DH has an ICD. We were advised against it as well. He does a lot of cooking. No point in carrying something and storing that since he can't use it.
Dale- Grey_MountainExplorerI bought an induction unit, and none of our pots and pans, either in the house or in the MH will work on it. There is a unit on the market that supposedly allows you to use any type of metal on the induction cooker. From the pictures, you put it on the burner and put the pot or pan on top of it. Does anyone have any experience with this type of setup?
GM - MrWizardModeratorprobably okay as long as you use your generator while cooking
i wouldn't do it, with out the generator
and i do have 505w of solar and 900+ amphrs of battery bank
but we full time, and use lot so of power
if you only used it once a day for one meal,
a few minutes to fry an egg, you might get by
