I can't even imagine a modification like that on a brand new RV, and then expect to have any kind of a warranty left on any part of the frame. Yes, it is up to the dealer, but he still has to get the ok from the factory to pay. And I know from experience, if the factory doesn't like the sound of it all, they will send a factory tech/Rep out to investigate, and let me tell you, you don't have a prayer !
And as far as warranty on this mod ? Good luck. They did it according to your instructions and specs. Most times it doesn't pay to 2nd guess the factory engineers, this sounds like a perfect example.
You make it all sound so simple, but you didn't do it yourself.
Being a welder/metal fab for 45 yrs, I've found that to do a good weld, you have to be able to see it good. And many times there was not enuff room up there for my head, not to speak of a welding hood on my head, and then be able to see it well enuff to get a good weld. Many times I got burnt up because I had to weld it thru just a welding lens w/o a hood,....because the boss said, "DO IT" Sounds like this could have been a similar situation.
I was always kind a the opposite. If it was a critical....hard to get at kind a job on my own rig, I for sure did it myself,.....would NEVER trust it to supposedly good shop, that in reality hires kids off the street, just like the RV dealers do.
Good luck.
