I had an exide nautilus for a while pre 2007. That thing spewed acid down its sides into a paint eating wood softening cesspool of toxic fumes. But it seemed fairly tolerant of cycling abuse.
Any specific garage charger is going to behave differently than another when tasked to take on highly varied RV converter duties.
When people ask me what I'd recommend for a garage charger I say get a PD9245 and cut a set of older jumper cables in half, or to the desired length. At least with these one can force 14.4v to be held for another 4 hours, or just let it do its automatic thing.
They balk at such a price and usually buy a wally world special, which is more than good enough for occasional recharging of a starting battery to a state where it can start the engine, and that's all that matters to 99% of those who own battery chargers.
Since lead acid batteries, gel AGm or flooded all want to be 100% charged at all times, I find any charging source incapable of performing this to be obnoxious, and the product marketing to be contemptible, and the specific product fanboys equally so.
When I ask them how they Determined the battery is fully charged and that it is an awesome charger, they point out the green light.
I should just design a green light serototin machine that lights up when the slightest amount of anxiety/insecurity is detected in an individual.
