Voyager rear camera doesn't work- sort of? Need help.

I have a 2004 DSDP. On the way home this past spring from AZ, my voyager AOM 711 rear TV monitor quit working. The screen was black and I could smell a metallic scent. It gets very hot behind the dash...

The manufacturer now says to try the new harness that came with the new monitor which I will try.

Has no one out there had a voyager monitor short out? I have had this motorhome since new in 2004 and this is my second monitor although the first one was a different brand. Newmar put in the voyager one that just quit on me and has affected the operation of the rear camera for some reason.
