If it has been off for more than about 30 days (not connected to a working properly pointed antenna) then the receiver has been deactivated. I would suggest getting the receiver activated first and then give it another try. Someone recently posted that Dish now has an app you can download, sign into your account and do the "hit" reset using the app.
