My complete basic Dish triple satellite system cost me a bit less than $250, and uses a 1000.4 dish modified for "no tools needed" assembly and adjustment, and a VIP211k receiver. My tripod is a simple roof mount modified for "no tools" setup and leveling. After the initial purchase, I did add a western arc LNBF to switch with the eastern arc LNBF supplied with the dish as needed to accommodate clear LOS aiming angles, as well as an external USB hard drive to add DVR capabilities to the receiver. My total final equipment cost was about $400, including the hardware needed for the "no tools" modifications to the dish and tripod.
