Water Filter Stuck

Any suggestions for removing what seems to be an overtightened water filter housing. I have an (oil) filter wrench to remove, but it doesn't want to budge. I am concerned about damaging or even cracking the connections if I try too hard.

Any tricks would be welcome.

  • I"d loose the oil filter wrench and get one made for the filter canister. Make CERTAIN you're turning it the right direction because you're working upside down. The correct wrench will apply force only circularly not squeezing the housing for grip. See them HERE

  • Make sure the water is turned off, then open a faucet in the trailer to release the pressure.

  • The only suggest I have is heat. Realizing that it's plastic do you have an electric heat gun with adjustable temperature? If not, a good hair dryer. If they built it like mine, you can't see the filter without a mirror so it's not easy to get to. You'll have to change it eventually because it will plug up, but do it when you have plenty of time before your next trip so that you have time to fix it if you break something.
