Turn the gas off, wait 3 minutes ans ssslllooowwwlllyy open the gas valve. Make sure the selector on the regulator is turned to the open bottle. Go inside and try to light a stove burner using a gas match. Usually takes a minuteor so to get a good flame. Now, go out and try to light the water heater. No joy? Start looking electrical
