Water Heater Thermostat Adhesive

I am working on my neighbors 2004 Fleetwood Discovery and the water heater thermostat has come loose. The thermostat is held against the tank by a surrounding circular spring which in turn is held by 3 metal tabs. The spring had come loose and did not always come in contact with the tank. I have got the thermostat, and spring holding it against the tank in position, but I believe it will eventually vibrate loose again. Is there a better solution to this problem? Is there an adhesive which will keep the spring from sliding out of the tabs and will hold up to vibration and heat?

If that is on the front (outside) of the tank, it should have a piece of foam insulation covering it and the ECO. There should also be a large washer (metal on older ones, clear plastic on newer) between the spring and metal tabs- the washer has a cutout on it to slip under the tabs while rotating.
IOW- if everything is installed correctly, there shouldn't be a problem. Worst case- buy a new thermostat/eco assembly- under $20.

Thanks Chris, I went to a local dealer and found a new assembly for $15.00. The plastic washers were missing on the original unit. Some one probably removed them and lost them. The spring will hold under the tabs if the circumference is expanded, but it will eventually work out as it happened.
