water line, installing a T fitting??

want to install a T fitting in our water line behind the toilet so i can install a sprayer that works independently from the toilet flush valve.
here is a picture of the existing water line behind the toilet which already has a T from the factory which has those special crimped clamps that hold the T. is there a way to install a T just past the factory T without using that special tool for the clamps?
any other type fitting i can use to secure it? not sure what size pipe that is.
thanks

  • It seems to Me that there is a water supply fitting available that does the job of servicing both the Toilet Flush and the Sprayer. Without having to Cut or replace any supply lines.
  • Sharkbite, Watts, SeaTech, Flair-It, all make crimpless fittings that work well with the PEX type tubing used in RV's. The Flair-It fittings can be tough to install in tight places though. The others are good for that.
  • The procedure to follow is, turn the water off, select location for the "T" and cut approximately 1/2" piece out of the pipe, take 1/2" length of pipe to hardware store and buy the appropriate size crimpless "T" and the fitting needed to connect the sprayer hose to the "T". Go home and install. Turn water back on and test for leaks and sprayer operation.

The pipe is probably 1/2", but take the piece with you to make sure. Sharkbite and other fittings do not use crimp rings. Some here say crimp rings are better but I've never had a Sharckbite or Flair-It fitting leak after a hard bumpy all day drive. All my leaks have been crimped fittings. Sea Tech also makes some nice fittings. I've used my pen knife and my PVC pipe cutter and both work fine. A pex and plastic tubing cutter is about 15 bucks.
