water problem

Don't know what happened but!

I have an 2000 Avion. I just filled the water tank up. When I turn on the local water supply I have very little pressure and the water is coming out of the overflow.

When I try the pump it will not shut off and no water except water is also coming out the overflow.

Suggestions please.

Thanks,
Bill

  • Thanks to all. With the weather warming up I can try and figure out the problem, well I will try before going to an RV dealer.

    Thanks again,

The overflow is, of course ABOVE the tank, turning on the water pump will NOT make the tank over flow.

There are low point drains, often there are two valves in the wet bay (Compartment with water controls) or elsewhere. Sounds like one of them is open

Either that or you have a problem

Sounds like you have identified the lines on pump backwards.....

Pump suction line removed.....water would come out when city water is connected and ON--------IF pump check valve is leaking

NO water means pump check valve is closing and is OK

On your water control panel.......do you have a 'Fill' position?
That valve leaking thru would fill/overflow fresh water tank when connected to city water
Sometimes the handle moves but valve doesn't cause handle slips on valve stem and doesn't even move valve
  • Hope this makes sense.

My water control panel is in a side compartment with the controls for the waste, etc. It leaks when both city and RV pump is on.

I took then lines off the pump. The line that has water coming out from what I believe is the source has water. Shen I connect it up and remove what I believe is the feed line to the faucets there is hardly anything.

To stop the water from coming out the overflow drain I have to shut off the city water and pump.
  • Fresh water tank overflowing when connected to city water........

    Basically 2 ways

    1) IF you have a water panel with valves then "FILL" is still open or leaking thru
    2) On-board pumps have internal check valves to prevent backflow thru pump when on city water.....it is leaking. (TURN OFF CITY WATER___USE PUMP. Flow thru pump MAY clear debris/crud on check valve and allow it to close. When using pump if should not 'cycle' if check valve closes)

IF you have both.......which one is leaking?
Remove pump suction line at pump and see if water flows back out of pump with city water ON
  • Ok, perhaps we're talking about two different things. The part I'm talking about is the city water connection. I guess that's not the 'overflow.'

My overflow (tank vent) is a small orifice next to my tank fill. If it was spewing water I wouldn't know what to do either.
  • OK. Stupid question. Where will I find it, on the water tank?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Otherwise known as a check valve
